What this action does #

First, connect Dropbox in Services. Then open Actions → + → Dropbox and choose Upload File.

What a run does

Running or testing this action creates something in your connected service.

More about this action

Uploads up to 150 MiB in one request. Destination path must include the filename. Uses add mode and strict conflict checking: an existing file is never overwritten. Enable Auto rename to create a new name on conflict. Larger files need upload sessions, which this action does not support.

Inputs to fill in #

Open an input to choose its value. Keep a fixed value with Text, receive it from Shortcuts, ask when the action runs, or use an Earlier Step. Read how input sources work.

Destination folder

OptionalText

Choose the existing parent folder. / means the root of your Dropbox or app folder.

This input offers a picker for folder from your connected account. You can also supply its value directly.

Default: /

Example value (replace with your own):
/Homework

File name or path

RequiredText

With a destination folder selected, enter a name or relative path inside it. Leave the folder as / to use a full Dropbox path.

/Homework/report.pdf

File

RequiredFile

Supply a file value for this input.

Auto rename

OptionalOn or off

Choose a new name if the destination already exists.

Default: false

What comes back #

In the action editor, open Output → Returned Value to choose fields for your shortcut. These are the response fields described by the app; a service may omit an optional field or return an empty list. JSON File contains the full response.

Returned fieldTypeMeaning
namestringText value.
idstringText value.
path_displaystringText value.
path_lowerstringText value.
sizeintegerFile size in bytes; absent for folders.
revstringText value.
server_modifiedstringText value.

content_hashstringText value.

Run it from Shortcuts #

  1. Give the action a recognizable name and tap Save.
  2. In Apple Shortcuts, add Shortcutify’s Execute Action and select the saved action.
  3. Supply any Param or File slots you bound in the inputs, then run the shortcut.

If the result is unexpected, open Logs in Shortcutify, select the run, and inspect this step’s inputs and response.
