YouTube Analytics
Get views, watch time, subscriber changes, and revenue reports for your own YouTube channel.
What you can do #
YouTube Analytics signs in to the Google account that owns your channel. It returns channel reports for a date range, including totals, daily statistics, and top videos. These are your authorized channel reports, rather than the public counts in the separate YouTube integration.
A Client ID identifies the iOS app registration you create in Google Cloud. You then sign in to Google and grant access to the reports. No client secret is needed.
Connect YouTube Analytics #
- In the Google Cloud console, pick or create a project. Enable YouTube Analytics API under APIs & Services → Library.
- Open Google Auth Platform. In Branding, set an app name and your email. In Audience, add the Google account that owns the channel as a test user.
- In Clients, create a client of type iOS with bundle ID com.guramkajaia.shortcutify. Copy its Client ID.
- In Shortcutify, open Services → YouTube Analytics, paste the Client ID, and tap Connect YouTube Analytics. Sign in using the channel owner’s Google account.
Google limits refresh tokens for external apps in Testing to seven days for these permissions. If the connection stops after a week, reconnect in Services. Publishing your Google registration has additional Google requirements.
The iOS client determines its redirect address from the Client ID, so this setup has no separate address to paste into the app. See Google’s iOS authorization guide.
{reversedClientID}:/oauthredirectExample: check your channel’s recent totals #
- In Actions, tap +, choose YouTube Analytics, then Channel Totals.
- Review From and To. Their defaults are 28 days ago and today. Relative dates are worked out each time the action runs.
- Open Returned Value in the action editor to choose report fields such as views or watch time, then name and save the action.
- Add Execute Action in Apple Shortcuts and select your saved report action.
Reports can lag behind current activity. Google returns data through the latest date for which the requested metrics are available, so an end date of today does not guarantee numbers for today.
If something does not work #
The connection stops after seven days
Check your Google registration’s Audience setting. While it is in Testing, reconnect in Shortcutify when its refresh token expires.
The report is empty or ends before my selected date
The selected channel or date range may have no available data. Recent analytics can take time to become complete, and different metrics may be available through different dates.
I want public video details instead of my channel’s reports
Use the separate YouTube integration. It uses an API key and reads public video, channel, playlist, and comment data.
A revenue report is unavailable
Revenue reporting depends on your channel’s eligibility and Google’s monetary-analytics permission. Check that you signed in with the correct account and granted the requested permissions.
