Jev
Ask structured questions about text or data, then use the answers in your shortcut.
What you can do #
Jev is TypeSafe’s model for quick judgments. Give it text or data and ask Yes or no, Pick one, or Rate questions. It returns an answer for each question, with probability or confidence information depending on the kind of question.
For example, give it a message and ask whether it sounds urgent. A yes-or-no question returns a number from 0 to 1 representing the chance the answer is yes. It does not return a guaranteed true/false fact. Your shortcut decides what to do with that number.
Jev evaluates the content you send. It does not write a reply or perform calculations for you. The content is sent to TypeSafe for evaluation, so choose what you pass into it deliberately.
Connect Jev #
- Sign in to TypeSafe’s API key page, create an API key, and copy it.
- In Shortcutify, open Services → Jev, paste it into Paste your token, and tap Connect Jev.
TypeSafe manages your account’s service usage and billing. Check its console for current limits and charges. TypeSafe’s introduction explains the kinds of answers Jev produces.
Example: ask whether a message is urgent #
- In Actions, tap +, choose Jev, then Yes or no.
- In State, enter the message to evaluate. State means the content Jev reads, not a setting or status.
- In the question field, ask one clear question, such as Is this message asking for urgent action?
- To pass a different message on each run, tap Bind for State, choose Shortcuts, and select Param 1.
- Name and save the action. Add it to a shortcut using Execute Action and pass the message through Param 1.
You can add more questions in the same form. Pick one questions need their options; Rate questions need a scale described from lowest to highest. Each question evaluates the same supplied content.
The answer is a model’s assessment. A probability or confidence value helps your shortcut decide whether to act automatically or ask you to review the result.
Choose the right task #
Yes or no: assess one statement
Describe the statement you want assessed and what a yes or no should mean. The answer includes noul, a number between 0 and 1 for the chance it is yes. For example, 0.9 means a strong assessment toward yes; it is not a promise that the statement is true. Choose the threshold and review behavior appropriate for your shortcut.
Pick one: choose among options
Write the question and add the named options Jev should choose from. Describe the options clearly enough to distinguish them. The answer includes the choice, probabilities for the options, and confidence. Use the choice to branch in your shortcut and confidence to decide whether you want a person to review it.
Rate: assess a position on a scale
Describe the question and the levels from lowest to highest. The returned score starts at 0 for the first level and may fall between levels. The answer also includes the legend, probabilities, and confidence. This is a judgment against your described scale, rather than a calculation.
Supply context and ask several questions
State holds the content to evaluate. Use its fields to provide the pieces of context you need, or bind a field to Shortcuts or an earlier step. Add questions of any supported kind on the form; they evaluate the same state in one request. Give each question a clear purpose so you can use its answer separately.
Import questions you already wrote
Paste from Jev can import a whole request, its questions, or a state. Tap Add to review what landed, then Done to confirm. Imported questions are added after existing questions; an imported state replaces its fields. Review anything the app could not put on the form before saving.
If something does not work #
What is State?
It is the text or data Jev evaluates. You can type it, receive it from Shortcuts, or take it from an earlier step. Naming fields lets you send several parts of context.
Should I use Yes or no, Pick one, or Rate?
Use Yes or no for a single statement, Pick one to choose among named options, and Rate for levels on a scale. The form shows controls for the kind you choose.
Can I reuse questions from the Jev playground?
Choose Paste from Jev in the Jev picker or form. Paste the request or question data, review what the app imported, and confirm it before saving.
Which model version should I choose?
jev-latest follows TypeSafe’s current stable model. The form also offers jev-preview and Another Version. Use a specific model name if you need to keep the version fixed.
